The Jamaica Castor Industry Association (JCIA) was founded in 2016 with the mandate to facilitate the development of the Castor oil industry in Jamaica.\u00a0 It was incorporated in 2017 as a limited liability company with a board of directors elected by its members. The Board is comprised of an elected president, vice president, directors of; technical, marketing, processing, farmers\u2019 development, cultural and historical development, finance and a board secretary (see organization chart \u2013 Appendix i<\/em>). The Jamaica Castor Oil (JCO) industry is currently comprised almost entirely of small to medium sized farms, enterprises and distributors. There is also a relatively low barrier to market entry.
